he raises some great points, don’t you think! I’m going to have to have a good read through to consider them..

on first glance though, I thought the reference to Schaeffer was fantastic ;)

Mark (Earngey), thank you sooo much for pointing me to these notes about Mark’s (Driscoll) talk (great fodder for an insomniac).

I think his talk is so spot-on, it’s scary. I am so excited by his passion for the Gospel and for God’s word, NOT for the culture and the rigid structures of the church.

I particularly think we, as Moore College students ready to embark on a lifetime of ministry, should deeply consider to points 9 and 10. Gospel ministry is not a call to get a comfy job in the church, but to live so that the Gospel may reach many so that as many as possible may be saved.

I love how Driscoll challenges our very rigid thinking, our almost auto-pilot progress through the established steps of church ministry. Not to say that existing structures are bad, but to question whether we really place our faith in God and his Gospel, or is our faith misplaced in the structures of our church?

I will write more later, cos this has really inspired me in so many ways! I will reread, at least.

ah mel, glad to hear you found some of his points helpful.

the best summary so far of my thoughts is that Mark Driscoll is a wonderful evangelist and my hope would be to see God use him in ways not dissimilar to Billy Graham!

re: schaeffer. he’s the best. quite an evangelist like driscoll, but was the great evangelical defender/prophet through 1960-1980. he is truly wonderful. there was a briefing article about him a few months ago, but you can search and have a read about him online. i’m going to post a video of his soon!

mate, i purchased the complete series (the blue set right?) about 2 years ago, have made my way through most of them, and absolutely love ‘em!

what a guy eh. a big heart, keen mind, and love for the lost.

ps – if you’re into schaeffer, you should chat to Stuey Crawshaw in our year…. he’s a big schaeffer man aswell – in fact, he built his ministry around a lot of schaeffer’s thought!
