In July this year, Triple J will announce the Hottest 100 of All-Time! The last time they did this was back in 1998 (the good old days of music!) and Nirvana came out on top!
Here’s the top-10 from the last All-Time Hottest 100 (flippin’ awesome collection of songs!):
1 Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit
2 Hunters And Collectors – Throw Your Arms Around Me
3 Pearl Jam – Alive
4 Jeff Buckley – Last Goodbye
5 Radiohead – Creep
6 Led Zeppelin – Stairway To Heaven
7 Metallica – One
8 Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody
9 Metallica – Enter Sandman
10 Pearl Jam – Black
But the question for you is: Who is going to take #1 this time round?

the strange thing about that list is that it doesn’t look out of place at triple m, and it doesn’t seem to match the triple j playlist outside a few artists.

can’t wait eh dude?
i’m kinda upset it’s gonna be kinda like an australia day in july… hottest one hundred is just such a summer thing.
that 1998 list is fairly killer.
i dunno what songs will be in that top 10,
but i’m banking on radiohead, jeff buckley, nirvana and queen making return appearences. i’d like to see muse rate a mention, but i’m not hopeful. i’d also love to see the pumpkins in there…

@geoffc: yeah mate, kinda interesting to see in retrospect. though it’d be interesting to see what triple-m was playing back in the day…
@jimbob: yeah mate. it’s gonna be grouse. I reckon Muse should make the cut for 2009. they’re a pretty epic band who I reckon would have had mass appeal back in ’98. and pumpkins… that’s an interesting one. I flippin’ love siamese dream, and reckon Disarm or Today could make it. but I just don’t know if they had the mass appeal to get up there. probs #20-ish…?
peace!
